It is 4:12 AM, taking a 5 minute break from studying till my 11 am final. Studying Gender, media, communication...and I came across this fascinating excerpt from Susan Faludi's "Backlash: The Undeclared Ware Against American Women"
"..Professional women are suffering "burnout" and succumbing to an "infertility epidemic." Single women are grieving from a "man shortage."..Unwed women are "hysterical" and crumbling under a "profound crisis of confidence."///
How can American women be in so much trouble at the same time that they are supposed to be so blessed? If the status of women has never been hihger, why is their emotional state so low?
The prevailing wisdom of the past decade has supported one, and only one, answer to this riddle: it must be all that eqaulity that's causing all that pain. Women are unhappy precisely because they are free. Women are enslaved by their own liberation. They have grabbed at the gol ring of independence, only to miss the one ring that realllllly matters....They have pursued their own professional dreams)) and lost out on the greatest female adventure. The women's movement, as we are told time and again, has proved women's own worst enemy."
--Please ponder, and I shall give my piece-of-mind later on my next break. But bottomline: why must we be punished for goin' after our dreams?!?!?!

I'm feeling very chatty today...hahah so I came across this J.Lo bashing article on Entertaintment Weekly website: Hot Topic: Is Jennifer Lopez headed for a diva metldown?
Read it, it's quite hilarious. After that, read some of the reader comments below the article. Here are a couple exerpts:

Let's look at Jlo's patterns. She gets with Puffy to get ahead in the music business, dumps him, then marries some no-name so no one thinks she's a goldigger, drops him, now she's "marrying" Ben Affleck to get ahead in movies. What trash!

I'm not a HUGE fan of Jennifer, but I do think she's talented. However, I am tired of constantly seeing her everywhere I look. I'm also tired of hearing about her and Ben. Give me a break J.Lo. Maybe you should actually take about 6 months off and just get to know the guy. But what do I know? I'm just a "regular" person.
Ahhh.. I love the world, I love editorial critque... now I shall resume studying. =)

Great song off the Drumline Soundtrack:
-Syleena Johnson, "Faithful To You"
everytime i think about the changes we've been goin thru,
i think of how losing you could be the worst thing i could do,
cuz no one makes me feel this way.. this calm, this warm,
this close, this safe,
you humble me in every way, with every word you say....
you make wanna sing, you make me wanna shout, you make me
wanna know what love is all about ,
you make me wanna try, you show me i can fly, im so faithful to you......
i know im just a girl, cuaght up in this world, i want you to know how
all that goes, to you i'll be true, and live my life to show you, im so faithful to you......
love is patient, love is kind, from me your love comes right on time,
i never knew i'd feel so good, just cuz you always understood,
and even though i went astray you took me back and let me stay,
and now that i have changed my ways, i wanna thank you for loving me anyways.......
whatever you do, ill be right there, wherever you go, ill be right there,
whatever you need, i will supply, cuz im faithful to you, and only you
you're the only one for me, youre the only one i need, you make me complete,
you're soo good to me, i'm soo faithful, my heart's so faithful to you now......
=)

Mariah Carey's "The One" Can the world say, "Helllll yea!" =)
See the problem with relationships
In general is that it's always a game
In the beginning they'll do
Anything to have you
And once they do it's never the same
And I, know everyone out there can relate
So the question is
One: do I really wanna trust this feeling
Two: do I wanna let it pass me by
Three: do you think it's only superficial
Four: could it actually be different this time
Someone to love me
Someone to be my everything
Maybe I've stumbled upon

I have yet to officially launch this on the web for the public, but i guess today is the day.
I'll start off with some of the cheesy thoughts that have gone thru my head today.
A. Worked @ J.CREW this afternoon, and got to know some of my co-workers better and it feels soo good to have this paying gig. The work is hard on the feet and the toosies, but with this job I have been able to: 1.earn $$$ 2. meet some amazingly nice co-workers that I look forward to seeing, and this is a feeling I get everytime I go to work 3. get to help people, enhancing my EXCELLENT customer service skills =) which, believe it or not, I love to provide 4. get out of the SC area and mingle with people I wouldn't normally mingle with 5. have a additional diversified social circle for me to be apart of cuz i love meeting new people 6. get J.CREW clothes @ a great discount!
B. So I got home from work, and I'm tired, hence, I watch tv with Mell, and since I got to choose what to watch, i decided to watchBEHIND the MUSIC: Faith Hill. And for all you peoples, I LOVE THIS show, and i love Faith Hill. Anyways, watching this just made me think how hard some people struggle and work to get to where they wanna be, and what they wanna become. Watching her whole story unfold left me in awe of her, and all those other people who kick butt in the world to succeed and be happy. So here's what I learned from watching BTM:Faith Hill: 1. she's adopted 2. she popped a blood vessel in her throat and had to rest for 3 months 3. she has gotten divorced before her marriage to Tim McGraw 4. after her divorce, she met Tim McGraw on some yada-yada Combustion Tour..she was the opening act 5. the hooked up on this tour 6. and they got married within 5-months of knowing each other and being together 7.she had a huge drive in life to make her dreams a reality. And, people, #7 is the biggest lesson, and reaffirmation of my life today. My goal from today, till I kick the can, to make MY DREAMS A REALITY.
So, whoever reads this, please HOLD ME TO THAT, incase i ever get distracted, which I don't see happening too much. But, yeah, I wanna be succcessful and happy, and I'm going to do what it takes, and get there.

Yesterday was a long, great, fabulous day. Started off with me attempting to make Funnel Cake for everyone. I was craving Funnel Cake because I didn't get a chance to go to Knott's Scary Farm this year, due to the fact that 1. My stomach can't take roller coasters anyone and 2. I've gone for the past 2 years, or 3 years is it? Anyways, they tasted fine, but presentation wise, they weren't pretty enough to give to my peeps. Sorry, KiDs!
Anyways, moving on thru the day, the best part about it: getting the call from J.Crew, saying they were offering me a job! The feeling is oh so great when you're done with all the interviewing process, and the place you wanna work for, for the time being, offers you a job! So I am now part of the J.Crew family! Training next Sunday, and then I start! Yay!
Besides J.Crew, we(you know who we is yes? We is "deltas" from here on out k?) had dinner @ Tony Roma's and it was fabulous. Everyone got to yap, joke around, cough sickies (me!), grub, laugh, etc. And I got to ask my daughters, "Which 3 Pledge Bros. would you date?" It was hilarious, sweet, and cute. You wanna know the answers? Well.... 2 damn bad. SECRET! =) The rest of the evening was uneventful.
Today, I introduced SATC, Sex and the City, to the daughters. We shall now watch episodes everytime anyone of 'em come over.
Any last thoughts before I post this? Hmm. Ah yes. A Recommended mp3 DL: Howie Day "Ghost", recommendation courtesy of Nick.
