What It Feels Like to Be Jess..........

Since, it's been awhile, again, I figured I'd update yalls with some quick moments of my life and thoughts that have happened over the past week or so. Feel free to ponder along with me and ask yourself, "Man, I wish I was Jess!" or "Man, thank gawd I'm not Jess. Ugh!"

1. Today I went out on my lunch to grab a bouquet of flowers and a cake for a co-manager's surprise bday. This walk to fetch these items involved crossing Market St. in SF and hiking up Powell. There was a definite throng of Black folk around town today since there was a free India.Arie concert up at Union Square today. Do we even need to guess where this story is headed? Anyways, as life has proven, Jess wearing a form fitting tank top + black guys out on the street = Jess getting hollared at. =( Wah!! How about as I cross the street back to my shopping complex, after being able to dodge any catcalls through out this whole errand run, I'm 1 crosswalk away from being home-free, I hear, "Oooh tig 'ol bitttties" Translation: Big 'ol Titties. Oy! Oy, is right! BLECH!Why me?

2. My desire to see The Lake House. The previews didn't look bad at all, but I guess a buncha reviews are saying its so unbelievable. Well. Keanu + Sandy Bullock?!? Why am I not gonna watch it!?!? So, since I have tomorrow offf, I'm going to do a very BRAVE thing: I'm going to go watch that alone. More for the sake of me not having to drag someone to go and have them waste their $10 bucks. So really, it's for YOU out there that I'm doing this. NOT cuz I want to watch this movie. *wink wink* Boy, do I luurrve chick flicks! My 2nd big movie sob session of my life was watching Sandy Bullock in While You Were Sleeping in high school. Oh my how I sympathized sooooo much for her crappy life as a Token Girl at the Chicago Subway Station who adores a Coma boy but instead, falls in love with Coma-boy's flannel-wearing/furniture-building and moving brother. Man. I cried a LOT. hahaha. Such a good movie. Or do I have to say that because of the gallons of tears I bawled out?

3. New music scene artists I love: Corinne Bailey Rae. Yall gots to listen to her. I'm going to Target tomorrow to pick up her album for $9.98...hollllaaa!!! Wei actually found out that Corinne has a concert is SF next Tuesday the 27th. Anyone else there that likes her music, let me know. Let's go! And then tomorrow, Mell and I, and maybe a few other peeps are going to San Jose for a free outdoor Matt Nathanson concert. Can't wait!

4. Thursday Night TV: Making the Band 3, So You Think You Can Dance, Travel Channel's 5 Takes: Pacific Rim. Fabulous shows! Making the Band 3 is bomb because I've been watching these girls become a group for so long. I love watching the choreography, and the utter chaos and fun happen. I always fall in love with hip-hop all over again when I hear all the songs they audition to. Oooooh-la-la-la-la-laahhhh! Missy Elliot! Who else? I forget. Pacific Rim went to Taiwan last week and watching white folk attempt to eat Stinky Tofu is the best. They say it tastes, "VILE!" Well you know what, I don't like it either. Dad used to stink up the microwave at home for DAYS when he heated that stuff up. Utter disgust. Vile is right.

5. It was Skess' Bday yesterday. I missed out on her Super Sweet-26-teen debauchery @ Monroe's on Sat. The other 2 Chensie girls got to go along with Lib and I soo missed out. I reallly wanted to go to LA this past weekend but no such luck. =( I sent the girl some cool stuff for her bday though so hopefully that will hold her over til I see my Jewish Home girl next. Challahback!!!! Not only did I miss her bday bash, I finally started to my my Los Angeles. Took long enough eh? I'm one to be a chameleon, to be able to adapt wherever I go, but the time comes when you just gotta miss something. I miss easy to get Korean food, steel-cut oatmeal, the million and 1 close brunch places, I miss my Santa Monica store peeps, I miss the always good weather, I miss getting illy coffee easily, I miss my lil sister Weiiiiiiiiiiii, I miss my $850/month rent. Life was reallly good in LA. No doubt.

Besides all the stuff I miss, I've definitely found a buncha stuff I do love here as I scope out other things I want with my life and what I want to do with my lil life.
In the end, we all dig our own graves. So I gotta figure out what opportunities I have to make to make everything I want/dream about, happen. =)
