Stan Fields: Miss Rhode Island, please describe your idea of a perfect date.
Cheryl "Rhode Island": That's a tough one. I would have to say April 25th. Because it's not too hot, not too cold, all you need is a light jacket.

Excursion in the City with a Boy - DONE.

Ferry Building Excursion with a Boy - DONE.

After four months of living in Norcal I finally got a couple things accomplished: stuff I should have accomplished yearrrrs ago. Maybe even during my high school years. The headlines explain it all.
For some of you that enjoy brunch as much as I do yall must got to ABSINTHE in Hayes Valley, SF. I recommend going in groups of 4 in order to try as many things on the menu as possible. Trust me - the more the merrier the belly is. They have blueberry-banana souffle pancakes, ricotta-stuffed french toast, croque monsieur(sp?)!

12pm Brunch @ Absinthe: Corned Beef Hash (this runs out on weekends so don't go too late) and the Bacon (Niman Ranch Applewood-Smoked), and the potatoes (I didn't try it but they sure looked damn good - rosemary seasoned and rumor has it, tastes like bacon!)
Note to Self: make reservations just cause you never know if you have to wait or not. Better safe than sorry. This Brasserie is straight up Frenchie and Lovely - a great place for couples or friends. They serve GREAT Coffee as well. illy. no wonder.

Exert from my Yelp Entry:
"I've been here for both Dinner and Brunch... loved it both times.

Today's meal was Brunch - made reservations ahead of time just to secure a seat in the house regardless of crowd or no crowd. Everything looks delish on the menu - corned beef hash is not to be missed. The delicate meat melts in your mouth with all the essential herb mix-ins, the poached eggs were soft and leaked of yolk perfectly. Two eggs combo was awesome - the potatoes looked really good - i didn't taste it but they got the stamp of approval, and the BACON... good lord - I don't know too many places that do bacon justice like this place - perfectly crisp, not burnt, with enough of the fatty goodness lining up each piece. Coffee- excellent as well.

It was just two of us that ate today so we didn't get to try too many things so next time, definitely bring the troops so you can have one of everything.. or close to, you know, get the corned beef hash, the two eggs, the pancakes, the croque mon, croq everything, oysters, etc. etc.

Not a 5 star because our waitress was a lil MIA - but then again, I was too busy yapping it up with my companion. Will definitely come back again for dinner and brunch. For dinner - ge the coq de vine (sp?) the ribeye with pomme frites, the oyster shooters and the oysters in general, and you know what, just try everything if you can.

***Don't try to get 1 entree to share amongst 2 people. The portions are for 1. Trust me.***"

Muni your butt on over to the Ferry Building: if the weather permits in SF, there's nothing more soothing and beautiful then a lil stomp around the Ferry Building. Really, the view is enough of a reason to go. When the sun is out, the sky is clear, you see the entire bay, the bridge, Treasure Island, and lil Sailboats passing by. This view is what makes SF simply beautiful.

The Ferry Building is the perfect place to go by yourself, for a date, with your family, or out-of-towners because there's something new or something great for everyone. If you have any ounce of love for food there's not much to not love. Coffee-check. Fruit-check. Cheese-check. Wine. Chocolate. Gelato, fast-food, seafood, sit-down, done, done, done, done.

Jet on a muni, zip on over and enjoy the high-ceilings and industrial loft feel as the rare rays of sunshine pelt in from the skylight windows. Grab a pastry, cookie or cupcake, a cup of coffee and grab a free bench out by the water and yap with a loved one. This is the place to go for an urban oasis escape while still within the city limits. Particular favorite vendors - Taylor's Refresher for mini corn dogs, Miette for Parisian Macaroons, Peet's for coffee and pastries, ACME Bakery for the amazin breads, Italian Batard, Delica - for everything related to Japanese Bento Boxes, and hollar at the Seafood vendors for the obvious.

Lastly, ladies pee/BM before you go, especially on weekends. The line for the ladies room could reach another zip code but it goes semi-fast, but then again, fast is relative when the seal is about to break.

Sundays in the city really can't be beat. I know, I sound like a broken record but after living in LA for 7 years and then moving to Norcal, I now have a clearer view of why SF has so many great sights and activities for singles, couples, etc. In LA, after dealing with traffic, you pretty much only have a few options: Santa Monica Pier and Beach (gorgeous but played out), the Getty Museum (awesome after braving the traffic on the 405 and if you can see past the smog, summer music nights here are suppose to be awesome), Griffith Park (apparently bikeriding is the up-n-coming activity here) annnnd....... SCCCCENE!!!! Not much else except if you go hit up a restaurant or bar. If you Yelp like I do, you can get some help to for outtings that don't involve movies or drinking... here's a link to her "No Drinking and No Movies" List
The description of the list is:
Places to go when you're bored of the bars and movie theatres. Sometimes, people want to be able to just go out and not have to drink or eat a big ol' meal and NOT have to go to the movies. So if you are ever in need of date-inspiration, check that list or search on YELP.
