It's Been a While Again...
OK. A few nutshell news items...
I got promoted. Yay! To Associate Manager @ J.CREW Palos Verdes.... it's pretty far in the south bay...but on the bright side, I can finally eat at The Appetizer, Red Onion for Mexican Food and Happy Hour, Ruby's, and meet up with my South Bay friends like Jen Tong and Joyce more often! Yay! I'm excited to have gotten promoted as it's the pinnacle of what position I've been wanting to achieve with J.Crew as the past 2.25 years have been an incredibly learning experience professionally and personally. I will miss my associates dearlllllllllly as well as the management team cuz I've been with these 2 other managers pretty much my entire time with the crew. Who knows where life will lead me next. I start the 2/13ish...whatever that Sunday is.....boy will I enjoy the traffic!!
IRON CHEF AMERICA: BOBBY FLAY vs. MING TSAI
Thanks to Joyce's FYI, I tivo'd this show cuz I had missed it. I finally watched it, secret ingredient being DUCK, and boy was the competition suspenseful! Ming totally kicked butt and Flay can just go home. Him and his blue corn and habenero everything. MING RULES! I LOVE HIM. I LOVE HIS FOOD. I LOVE IT ALL!!! GREAT HANDS you have MING! LOVE a man with good hands!!!
NEW VACCCUMMM!
So I can officially say I will no longer be borrowing any of my friend's vaccums cuz I finally got a BISSEL yesterday. I spent the last of my bonus money on a VACCUM. How Molly Maid am I? IT WAS NEEDED, desperately. It's super special cuz it as a "clean" "dirty" light that tells you when the area is clean or not. How cool is that!!!

What We Do For The Name of Love/Family.
What does it mean to sacrafice?
Where is your step in the right direction?
It's nice you say you care, but could you show it a lil more often?
Maybe it's that some people have no concept of what that is because they never knew it growing up so they are ill-equipped to even try expressing love.
I must say I slighty [ =) ] ill-equipped with expressing my love...mainly to my family..but I SWEAR, I'm trying. I'M TRYING. It's probably an inner fear of something or other.
And ladies, if you want some guy to worship/adore you, make sure he wants you first. For guys, if they want something, chances are, they go for it. If he doesn't want you now, he prolly won't want you later - so save yourself the misery, he's just not that into you. Attribute it to their "hunter-gather" identity. We're all lil more negotiable cuz we're emotional, we get tied up, and we can stick with someone we didn't necessarily want to begin with but we end up attached to them cuz we get emotional. For girls -- we are be wishy-washy and then commit, for boys, not-so-much. If you weren't hot then, you aren't hot now. Am I saying to for you? For myself? I think I'm saying for womankind. Move on to greener pastures - he's bound to be out there so keep the faith.

Things to -- Ponder, To be Thankful For, and to Look Forward To........
So a couple weeks have past and it is that time again when I have had enough LIFE to inspire me to type out a few random thoughts to entertain my incredible audience with. This means YOU. =)
PONDER:
1. Great Friends - a miracle of life and a subject we often don't think deeply enough about. The great friendships I have in my life I often wonder how it was meant to be and whether or not those friends know how much I do value and appreciate their existence in my life. I think great friends and loved ones are the real reason why any of us are able to get through this life. If it wasn't for their ability to just sit with you and listen or read your AIM venting-sessions as you "*%$&$(!" or "(*$*%&*($%)$!" or just attempt to make you laugh during highly dramatic moments what would life be like?
2. Boys - is it that they're made stupid, subpar and/or thoughtless and ball-less or are our standards just over the moon? I know being picky is one thing but being far below average isn't any better.
3. Brad'n'Jen Kaputz - The celebrity couple we thought would make it count. Well, funny story first. At work yesterday as I was ringing up a female customer, she receives news on her blackberry, and she tells me, "Brad and Jen split!" I go, "Realllly?" She goes, "Whew! That's enough to have a cocktail over!" Ummm to which I thought, ARE YOU SERIOUS? Enough to have a cocktail over? What are you? LA?!?!! Anyways, whatever, this customer made me undress one of our window manniquins so she could have a freakin S in a teal vneck sweater!! I was doing my job, but lemme tell you, strippin the window mannequins takes aloootttta work having to redress her afterwards. Moving on....I'm a lil sad. Poor couple. Goes to show, being an A-list celeb is Temptation Island, always looking for the greener grass, no?
4. The Soundtrack of Our Lives: Funny conversation I had with Mell the other day. I asked her when we would exchange burnt cd's that would reflect the soundtrack to our lives. An idea to exchange cd's with those close friends of yours through out your life, every, say 5 years, just to see how our musical tastes evolve and a chance to go back to the past and re-live it. Good idea, no? Anyways, talking about cd mixes, everyone should make cd mixes with unique and innovative titles.... what do I mean you ask? Making CD's titled .... A. FOOD COMA MIX - aka slow songs you can just vege, chill to after a fulllllll meal. B. BOYS SUCK - self explanatory C. THE GLASS-IS-HALF-EMPTY Mix - when you're depressed D. THE GLASS-IS-HALF-FULL mix - obviously, the opposite of C. E. HIBBA-DEE-DIBBA-DEE - self explanatory. Anyways, those are some of the ecclectic cd titles that I have yet to Patent and Copyright, so please feel free to use those titles. =)
Thankful For:
1. Great Friends - Need I say more?
2. Loved Ones - to the ones I don't say I care about you enough or adore you enough, I do. In Jess' oh-so-silent way, of course.
3. Bonus Incentives - our store beat everyone in the West Region in beating Planned numbers by +18.0%!! What does that mean? $500 bucks for Jess along with our 3rd St. Promenade management team winning 4 out of the 5 weeks in the LA District.
4. Shopaholics - Without you, my store wouldn't be up-n-runnin' and I wouldn't receive any of the lovely incentives we earned this holiday. THANK YOU, SHOPAHOLICS!!!
Look Forward to:
1. Saving Money - 2005 is gonna be about SAVING instead of SPENDING. The future to look forward to, I must save, cuz god knows, I just might have to support my butt all by myself? Things to ponder?
2. Vaccum Cleaner - something I need to get. Am I preaching to the choir when I say that having a down-comforter is nice, but the fly-away feathers SUCK major balls? I swear, my carpet is covered by feathers... including the area under my box spring. Vacccummm Cleaner 2005 is being RSVP'd cuz I say so.
3. Arizona next week! Goin' to Scottsdale to see big sister Kat and Company. Mom's meeting us there and my cousin Liberty.... which makes me wonder, when the youngin's go out, what the heck is mom goin to be doing? Is she coming to the club/bars with us? Will she be doing shots and drink vodka tonics till the cows come home?
4. Being committed to everything I say I'm gonna do. I.E. Save. Save. Save. Pursue my life's bigger calling.
5. Quality Hot Commodity/Market Value Items - what do you say to a women's market value going down at around the age of, say 28, since our eggs start expiring and to a man's market value only going up as they get older? Men have no rush, no expiring eggs, no biological clock, no need to settle down before 30-35! They can sew their seeds till they croak! Unfair. Unfair. Unfair. Sure we can be grandma's and have kids at age 60 these days without even having a husband, bf, etc. , but is it really all that cracked up to be?!!? Who wants to be 81 and in a wheelchair with a oxygen chamber and tube helping you breathe when your kid graduates from college? I kindly, bow out.
And it being the new year, cheers to everyone being happy or happier, finding someone they genuinely enjoying spending time with, to boys with more on their mind then just getting a lil' acccion, and great food! Salud!!

A New Mission: My Commitment To You
So this week has been a BIG week in the mind of Jess. I was presented a more innovated outlook for my life through a book recommended by dear MELL. I've talked about this book with some of you online and in person, and I can't get enough of it. I rarely ever finish a book in a week but i did it. I did it cause this book had such a deep impact on my mindframe and you beautiful people will reap the rewards of this incredible literature. The book - Love is the Killer App by Tim Sanders.
Lessons This Book Help me Learn .. which in turn, I hope yall will try and digest:
1. Bizlove is the act of intelligently and sensibly sharing your intangibles with your bizpartners. It is a matter of sharing your knowledge, your network of relationships, and your compassion - or any combination of those three. And this is the killer app.
2. Nice, smart people succeed - not the shrewd, the mean.
3. Love is the selfless promotion of the growth of the other.
4. When we start a job, whther as a recent graduate or seasoned professional, we take on a contract to create more value than what we are paid. If we don't add value to our employer, we are value losses. What the hell is YOUR VALUE?
5. Without a network, knowledge is nearly useless. You get value from your knowledge, but it becomes real when you share it with your peeps.
6. Compassion is a personal quality a machine will never possess.
7. Attention is one of the world's scarcest resources and decsion-maker attention is something companies are willing to spend billions on. Attention is money. Bizlove gets you attention. Other get only time. The difference between having their time and their attention is the difference between ham and eggs. The chicken is involved, but the pig is committed.
8. Business education without execution is just entertainment. Execute your moves.
9. Dale Carnegie: "You''ll accomplish more in the next two months by developing a sincere interest in two people than you'll ever hope to accomplish in two years trying to get two people interested in you."
10. Don't just be involved, be committed to as much as you can in your life. Says me.
A lot of the above may sound a 'lil buttery, a 'lil cheddary to you, but at the end of the day, this is what counts and I have a gut feeling it's gonna make a difference, hence, from this day forth, I'm gonna try and stick with this newfound innovative idea and declare my commitment to be a guiding light, a helping hand in seeing that I will help you grow/succeed in any way I can. Anyone with me?
(If you read every word of this entry, I thank you sincerely for doing so, because you are THIIIIIIS MUCH more wiser and I hope you find at least one of those 10 things significant. Now go share it.)
